At various times has contributed as:
Resident director of the East African Trade Association, representing
businesses of many nationalities in the region;
Member of the Governing Council of the Confederation of British Industry
and of its Energy policy Committee;
Board member of the Industry and Parliament Trust, a charity aimed at
improving the understanding between industry and government in UK.
Governor of 2 schools;
Board member of Abertay University, Chair of its Finance, Estates and
People Committee and member of its Chairman’s Committee.
Member of the Trust for the Promotion of Transfusion Research and
Education in Scotland.
Chair of Angus Conservative Association and member of the Executive of
the Scottish Conservative Association.
