A local man has returned to the area after receiving an OBE from the Prince of Wales.
Angus Macmillan Douglas of Douglastown was presented with the prestigious honour by Prince Charles in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace last week.
Mr Macmillan Douglas first heard that he would receive the award for his services to the Scottish NHS back in June as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
"I'm delighted and greatly honoured to receive the award and it was great for my family to be with me at the palace during the ceremony," he said.
"During the ceremony the Prince of Wales paid tribute to all blood donors in Scotland for the work they do to help patients," he added.
A former chair of the UK Forum of Blood Services and Director of the European Blood Services' Association, Mr Macmillan Douglas was also a director of the Scottish Blood Transfusion service for seven years and a director of the NHS's National Services Board over the same period.
He also spent 30 years in the oil industry and at one point was general manager of international public affairs at BP.
Although retired from these posts Mr Macmillan Douglas still keeps himself busy through his work as a member of court at Abertay University and his efforts as Chair of the Conservative Party in Angus.
